Limited 180gm audiophile vinyl LP pressing in gatefold jacket. Includes liner notes. The American country rock band Poco formed in 1968 and released different charting songs during the 1970s and 1980s. In 50 years, they recorded more than enough worthwhile material to bundle on two LPs. The Poco Collected album features songs from different periods and includes some live recordings. During their 50-years of existence Poco performed in various groupings and recorded over 20 studio albums. The band was formed following the demise of Buffalo Springfield in 1968, as seen in the name of their first album, Pickin' Up the Pieces. It was the start of long career, in which they recorded several charting singles, such as 'Rose of Cimarron', 'Crazy Love', 'Call It Love' and 'Heart of the Night'. Those singles are combined with the unknown gems and several fan favourites, to feature on Collected.

Essential Poco, and then some ...
Fabulous three-disc, 57-track overview of Poco, one of the most underrated country-rock / Americana groups ever. Pioneers in the country-rock genre, Poco appeared to be behind the 8-ball from the start. The long, wide, and imposing shadow of Buffalo Springfield hung over the band from the get-go, in the forms of CSN and Neil Young, and as time went on Loggins & Messina and Eagles. Whatever success the band managed to achieve often seemed diminished by the high-profile activities of its ex-members. Although gold records were rare in coming (only Legend and Legacy were certified during their original runs), quality songwriting, production, and performances were the band's constant watchwords. This collection manages to cover it all, from their Epic debut to their ABC / MCA resurrection, from pitstops with Atlantic and RCA to their self-released Drifter's Church label and solo side-trips. Pretty much every LP is represented here, and it's a wonderful musical journey. Pop Chart hits, Adult Contemporary hits, Album Oriented Radio hits (and misses) side by side and making perfect sense in this context. For the better part of a half-century, Poco was the underrated little band that somehow managed to survive all the slings and arrows of the record business. And they did so with a sense of class and in fine style. This is a highly recommended collection; hands down, far and away, Poco's best-ever compilation.

Great Collection of Poco Music - But Minor Issues With Packaging
This is truly a great collection of Poco music over the history of the group, including a small selection of the members' solo efforts. You get their hits (Crazy Love, You Better Think Twice, Rose Of Cimarron, Call It Love, A Good Feelin' To Know) as well as some gems off of their albums (Running Horse, Indian Summer, Midnight Rain). I got a great price on the set as well. My only problem with the set is the packaging. It is clever, but...I had problems with the booklet and 3rd disk which were tucked into the slipcase, rather than clamped in. In both cases, when I went to pull them out, the case ripped. It's just hard to get them out without sticking your fingers in which causes the packaging to rip. But as far as the music goes, you couldn't ask for much more.

Excellent listening
Poco, was an under-rated band whose harmonies and music were unbelievably great throughout the years. The recent deaths of Rusty Young and Paul Cotton leaves a hole in the music world, but lives on with thiscollection of some of their greatest hits. Worth every penny !!

from Pickin' Up the Pieces to All Fired Up and then some
Track list at end of review! This is actually a pretty decent collection and it draws across pretty much the band's releases on different labels (Epic, ABC/MCA, Atlantic, RCA and the band's own Drifter's Church). It was released in time for the band's 50th anniversary last year. The discs are somewhat chronological although they do mix it up here and there a bit. There are a few omissions that I think would've made better choices than some of the tunes used (for example, The Nature of Love is one of my least favorites off of Legacy). I would've gone with When It All Began, What Do People Know and/or Follow Your Dreams. Only one song each from Pickin' Up the Pieces and Cantamos appear on here and it feels like there should have been more.On the plus side, the discs are all pretty well packed with music. I think that it also would've been nice if I'll Leave It Up To You from the Fast Times At Ridgemont High Soundtrack was included just to have it here. The last eight songs on disc three given to outside projects by people who have been in Poco. It probably also would've been nice to have all three discs filled with Poco and maybe a fourth disc dedicated to side and solo projects. Then songs like Crazy Eyes, Whatever Happened To Your Smile, What If I Should Say I Love You, Western Waterloo and a few others could've been included. However, that might have also proved too costly to license. The short booklet that comes with this is nice enough and it's certainly better than not having one at all.Track List:1-1 My Kind Of Love 2:431-2 Hard Luck 3:521-3 Pickin' Up The Pieces 3:211-4 You Better Think Twice 3:211-5 Just For Me And You 3:381-6 Railroad Days 3:351-7 Bad Weather 5:041-8 A Good Feelin' To Know 3:541-9 Go And Say Goodbye 2:481-10 And Settlin' Down 3:411-11 Here We Go Again 3:281-12 Brass Buttons 4:181-13 Magnolia 6:181-14 Faith In The Families 3:441-15 Rocky Mountain Breakdown 2:171-16 High And Dry 4:541-17 Keep On Tryin' 2:541-18 Makin' Love 2:551-19 Rose Of Cimarron 6:431-20 Starin' At The Sky 2:572-1 Indian Summer 4:422-2 Downfall 4:382-3 Crazy Love 2:562-4 Heart Of The Night 4:512-5 Legend 4:162-6 Barbados 3:322-7 Midnight Rain 4:262-8 Under The Gun 3:132-9 The Everlasting Kind 4:242-10 Widowmaker 3:382-11 Sea Of Heartbreak 3:442-12 Ghost Town 5:362-13 Shoot For The Moon 2:452-14 Break Of Hearts 4:242-15 Days Gone By 3:502-16 This Old Flame 3:012-17 Save A Corner Of Your Heart 3:432-18 Call It Love 4:192-19 Nothin' To Hide 5:103-1 The Nature Of Love 4:033-2 If Your Heart Needs A Hand 4:593-3 Running Horse 4:083-4 Cajun Moon (Acoustic / Live) 7:003-5 Regret 6:183-6 Hard Country 7:273-7 Neil Young 4:253-8 C'Mon (Live) 3:163-9 Honky Tonk Down Stairs (Live) 2:463-10 Believe Me 7:383-11 Loggins & Messina - Your Mama Don't Dance 2:493-12 Jim Messina - It's All Right Here 4:133-13 Richie Furay - The Magic Moment 3:043-14 Richie Furay - I Still Have Dreams 3:253-15 Randy Meisner - Hearts On Fire 2:453-16 Timothy B. very thorough, except ....
A very thorough and satisfying anthology, which for the first time spans the entire 50 year career of this extremely underappreciated and influential band. However, one notable omission, which will forever render the album incomplete. What were the compilers thinking when they decided not to include the epic "Crazy Eyes", one of their absolutely best songs ever? Some of the solo stuff on disc three is a bit underwhelming too, particularly the Timothy B. Schmidt solo album tracks. Poco is well deserving of a serous multi disc box set, and I hope one will be forthcoming one day.

If you are an avid Poco fan, you'll like this.....
I must say that Poco is a band that I've seen in many different formats and featuring several types of sounds. That said, I own most of what they have put out musically, yet I still bought this three-disk set. Why ? First of all, it's very convenient to have this particular set of songs in one spot, so easily accessible. Secondly, for me, the sonic production was solid and an improvement over some of the cuts I have elsewhere. Lastly, some of the songs feel slightly different from previous releases. It's also a great companion piece to Forgotten Trails. All in all, it was an easy decision to fork over the approximately $35 for this three-disk set. I recommend it IF you are a big Poco fan or if you want a generally complete hits compilation.

Quality thru and thru.
A terrific compilation of Poco's recordings. To my mind a better band than the Eagles, as these guys provide such a diversity of styles and are such good vocalists and instrumentalists. Of course, there are songs I would have liked to be included but with all compilations we all have our own lists of numbers to be included. Having said that, this 3 cd set is so well done and it should slot very neatly into any music fans library.
