Okay, what am I doing wrong. The water was blue, not pink when I added the microspoon of chemical, no drops added.
What is the hardness range for this test kit? Thanks
Does this kit come with the test tube and mixing bottle like the one from Hach?
Why would the color of soft water turn blue as soon as the indicator is added to the sample, without any additionof the titrant?

Best way to test your water softener.

This is the most accurate way to measure your water softener. Very easy to use.

Get this Kit

I was getting questionable readings from test strip kits. The results with those were very subjective. This kit had very clear results and was much more in line with what I was expecting. Don’t waste your money on cheaper kits, buy this if you really want to know your water hardness level. I used this after installing a new water softener to verify results and to put the proper settings in the unit.

Precise results

A little pricey but is much better than dipsticks. Gives more definite results. Dipsticks can be subjective.

Works great but NO DOCUMENTATION with product

Ok, so it’s accurate and easy to use, but the Hach company provides absolutely NO DOCUMENTATION with what the various hardness levels are. The bar code sticker is placed over the English instructions (really stupid to do this). The paper instructions that came in the box have three different languages, but NO ENGLISH.

Test kit provides accurate results

I have tried test strips in the past, but it was usually a guessing game as the colors never matched up. HACH is a reputable vendor that provides accurate results. This test kit corelates 1 drop of titrant to 1 grain per gallon of hardness. The color change is very dramatic, so it is easy to determine the endpoint. I use this kit to test residential incoming water hardness to determine the setting for the water softener. I also use this to test the output of the water softener to make sure it is providing soft water. The kit is more expensive than the test strips, but well worth it for clear and accurate results.

A Great and Accurate Water Testing Kit!

I was a little hesitant about the cost of this kit, but it is great for testing hard water. I tested multiple samples to make sure it was correct and found it to be very accurate at telling you how many grains per gallon of hardness in the water. The best part is there is enough to test agan many times! I highly recommend!

Needed after installing a new water softener

First off. Don't test your water at the kitchen sink. A lot of homes are built not connecting the kitchen sink to the water softener. Test from a bathroom faucet. I installed a new Aquasure water softener and tried using a digital tester. Aquasure said that I needed the Hach total harness test kit as the digital tester is not accurate for systems that are not reverse osmosis systems. It's pretty easy to use, but if you are not focused you could lose track of how many drops you are placing. Just follow the instructions, it's easy and probably a lot more accurate.
