My baby was a NICU baby delayed coming home due to breathing apneas, so a monitor for breathing was critical for me. I received a Nanit and I purchased and Owlet. If your concern is whether or not your baby is alive, breathing, and safe - this is the monitor for you. I was so surprised as I bought this one on a whim, but it has been my lifesaver and peace of mind. This is the easiest one to use. Nanit is hard because the band is unsafe to use unless your baby sleeps with arms free - not right for a neonate with startle reflex. The owlet sock only has 15 hours of battery life, and there is always a risk of it getting dirty when you change the child’s diaper. Plus, it doesn’t mention breathing - just heart and oxygen. Neither of these are as good at also tracking if your baby is in a safe position for sleep (on back). Owlet cannot do that at all. And it is the only one getting a close reading of baby’s temperature - something I didn’t even know to worry about until he got home. And the Sense-U came to save me again.This is easy to use - clip it on the diaper. Its battery lasts FOR DAYS. When Nanit can only help you at night and Owlet can only help you so long, this thing laps them with days and days of battery life. You could travel overnight or 2-3 nights no charger and use it all day. It is also the only one I could take in the car with me when I cannot see my baby. All I needed to do was glance at my phone and see he is breathing and not overheating.Finally- in the NICU when baby has apnea, we go stimulate the baby to remind them to breathe. No other monitor will stim the baby for you - but this one does. It is not a replacement for your stim or supervision, but this one vibrates and beeps right at the baby’s navel if breathing becomes a concern. Imagine if - god forbid - you didn’t hear an alert. Well Sense-U is going to go off with a little stim for you immediately (before you can ever get there once you heard the alarm). Plus- you don’t need to go appease a base station (Owlet).This was the best sensor I bought and the one I use the most despite it never receiving the hype of competitors. If you want to know sleep quality or heart rate, get an owlet. If you want a great integrated monitor experience and your baby is sleeping arms free, get a Nanit. But if you want to enhance your monitoring of knowing baby is safe and alive - get a Sense-U.

While I was pregnant, I was torn on whether or not to order something that would help monitor our baby at night. Ultimately, I decided against it because of negative reviews. However, our little one just turn two months and has been suffering from reflux. This causes her to cough and gag a lot in the middle of the night, despite several other interventions.I did extensive reading of reviews and product information on different monitoring systems and decided to go with the Sense-U. It appeared the least "invasive" and user-friendly.It arrived promptly and was fairly easy to setup. It took less than 30 minutes total to unpackage and have it ready to go.The clip / monitor that goes onto the baby is nice because it uses a battery that does not require charging (one less thing for my mama brain to remember!) I keep it near her diaper station when its not in use so it is easy to access when we are getting ready for bed.The device monitors breathing / min, body temp, and body position. Although there have been occasional delays or times that it will not connect (most likely due to my wifi or something blocking the monitor from its home base), it works very well and gives me peace of mind. Our monitor has set off quite a few times (once for high / low temp, another for when she was on her tummy - I forgot to remove the monitor before repositioning her) - the alarm sound is the perfect volume for us as its not so loud that if it accidentally went off it would startle our baby, but it is loud enough that it would wake me.Overall, I am glad that I purchased the Sense-U. It is cheaper than other options, but still gets the job done. One thing that can be improved is the issue with it going "offline" at times.. I do wish there was better troubleshooting / help with this.
