Q: Is it possible to disable a trap that hasn't caught anything for use another time if the problem returns?

Yes, the traps are endlessly reusable, and can also be thoroughly washed in warm soapy water before being stored. Incidentally, the bait holder is an ideal size to fit a single hazel nut, which grips it tightly so will not dislodge accidentally when explored by a mouse....and can be left in place for a long time without deterioration. Works very well in practice.

Q: We have brought 6 of these traps but we cannot reuse them the lockin at the back does not work, we have used 3 so far, as the rest will not set.

The trigger plate is connected to the locking bar. It is possible to jam the trigger plate, and thus the locking bar, by not holding the trap in its normal upright position whilst removing and replacing the bait holder from underneath. The latter operation is admittedly very tricky and is not a brilliant design. Try removing the bait holder (and making sure it is clean enough to lock back in place and giving the trap a gentle shake while it is right way up. Then re-insert the bait holder whilst keeping the trap the right way up, which is easier said than done. Other possibilities are that the locking bar is broken or simply greasy: it could be a bit difficult to tell. If the trap is closed IE: "triggered" then the locking bar and the surfaces where it engages with the trigger plate and the kill bar are exposed and may be cleaned with cotton buds, but I've no experience with that being the problem. The instructions seem to be saying you can break the trap just by tilting it when you put the bait holder back in!

Q: did anyone catch mice with these traps without using gloves when setting them up? I read it a bit too late and hope it's still somehow effective.

I didn't use gloves. I baited them with orange chocolate. The mouse took it within the hour. It's just the traps are really bad mechanically.
