Q: Is it compatable/approved with/for Xfinity?

The Arris S33 Docsis 3.1 modem is currently only compatible with the 1.2GBPS Internet Plan with Xfinity but they say they are working on support for their Gig 2X plan that allows 2GBPS download and 400mbps upload at the moment, but this internet plan is not available yet for 3rd party modems. You have to rent their modem monthly to use the Gig 2X plan right now. They do not have a timeline yet, but I believe that the firmware update from Xfinity will be available VERY soon so that "MidSplit" works with their service. The Arris S33 modem IS compatible with MidSplit...Xfinity just needs to finish testing for third party modems and send a firmware update to existing customers so they can take advantage of the MidSplit feature and get 2GBPS internet without having to rent their shoddy equipment.

Q: was the Mac address release from previous device owner account? What happens if not?

It depends on the backend provisioning system of your internet service provider. Ideally, you should be able to use a used/refurb device provided the service provider's provisioning system automatically removes the previous owner's information from the device

Q: When does the certificate expire?

The DOCSIS certificate. It's rated as 3.1. Comcast is expiring the ones that are 3.0. So I think this one should be good until the next security upgrade in a few years. Hard to say for sure. My Zoom is 3.0 and it was made back in 2014. Only just now being "expired."
