This item was easy to install. Go to your local auto parts store and get a add-on circuit/fuse tap. Thats where I got the power from, then used a self tapping screw and grounded it to the frame of the vehicle under the sidekick panel near the fuse box. Much cleaner than a cig lighter power adapter! Great item, phone shows its being charged with a wall adapter as well! 1.2amp output. One side note, the item says that it will only take 10amp max. My car ACC (accessory) fuse is 15amp.. I was a little concerned that that fuse would work but so far it is.

Got it hooked up, used Bussmann Add-A-Fuse to hook it into my fusebox, no issues. Some reviewers complained about thin wiring and easy to break them off. I had no issues, used compression connection to the Bussmann, worked great. Easy to route behind my dash so it is completely out of sight, delivers plenty of power to run my phone while streaming music via bluetooth, running nav app and still able to trickle charge my phone. Strongly recommend buy.

I bought this for my phone on my motorcycle. It small, has low current draw, and easy to install. The cord is long enough to connect and the fuse box under the seat, run it under the tank up to the handle bars on my Suzuki Bandit. My only gripe is that it is not water resistant. That would have earned 5 stars.Tip: Install it to your rear tail light power. That way if you find your phone dead and want to charge but not ride, all you have to do is turn the key to Emergency (or Parking etc), that turns the tail light on without anything else so you don't drain you battery. It goes off with the key so you don't have to worry about draining the battery during storage.

I wanted to have a dedicated micro USB charger in the car (2006 Toyota Corolla) without having ugly wires and adapters sticking out everywhere. So I went ahead and bought this hardwire kit.My solution was to hook this into the cigarette lighter cables using a couple splice connectors. I ran the cable up through the center console opening by the hand brake.The cable is well hidden, and works perfectly for charging my iPhone 5 (with a  Mophie Juice Pack Air External Battery Case )! I'm very pleased with the result.

I bought this to keep my phone tracking GPS on full-day bicycle rides in remote areas. I have a small 90Wh LiPo battery for my lights that can spare juice for the phone. I cracked open the power supply to make sure it was suitable and found that it's not very rugged. The case is vented but there's no coating on the electronics that would allow it to be exposed to outside air. An inductor and capacitor on long leads will have reduced life with the strong vibration that might be found on a bicycle or motorcycle. The electrical wires were crushed during assembly and could short together if pulled on. An internal zener diode and fuse appear to provide protection against over-voltage faults.I'll give it an average rating because it's cheap and it appears that it won't damage your phone if it fails.

This is a perfect product! I dont use the word "perfect" sparingly either. I hardwired this to my 2014 Civic where I then used it to power my Qi Wireless charger for my phone. Installed on a Ducati ST3, used to charge a Blackberry Classic. I tapped into a line from the fusebox for heated grips which my bike does not have, so it's switched, no worries about battery drain. It charges my phone quickly, stays fully charged even with the maps app and screen running in full sunlight. I tucked it under the instrument panel, so it may get a little wet driving in hard rain, but haven't tested that yet.There are other chargers that don't work well with my phone, even ones rated at 2.1A, but this one works fine.

There is a massive strain relief block added near the USB plugin which does not show in these pictures making installation very challenging. This also did not power my dash cam properly, my rear camera doesn't work when plugged into this device. When I plug in the cigarette charger that came with the dasg cam, the rear cam works without issue.
