I have always loved maps, and recently bought a new townhouse with lots of large walls to cover. I thought this would be unusual and unique, and would help fill a void in my livingroom wall, and it did the trick. The other rave reviews are accurate - the pieces are of high quality wood, and they give you a couple of cardboard templates for the upper left and right corners with directions on how far apart to place them, and the rest is actually pertty easy, even if you're not a geography buff. I really like the offsetting heights of the pieces, which adds a bit of texture and interest.They give you these small, round double-sided adhesive patches for the large continental pieces with directions on where to place them, and the smaller islands and decals for the most part have their own adhesive backing. Some pieces interlock together, but I'd keep a world map handy for reference when putting this on the wall, especially some of the small island pieces. They do give you a diagram. I bought the "Large" version, and they gave me far more pieces of double-sided adhesive than you'll need, which is reassuring, so you can be confident, you'll have enough.WARNING: The adhesive pieces are extremely STRONG. Be careful about placement, because if you need to move a piece after placing it, you can tear your wall up if not really careful. Rest assured, this thing won't go anywhere, at least the big pieces. I accidentally put a piece of Antarctica on backwards, and tore a big chunk of paint three colors deep off the wall when I attempted to pull the piece off, so ended up having to fix that.Other than that, you'll love this thing. I had visitors over, and it got nothing but attention and compliments in my livingroom. It's high quality and classy. Even the packaging and directions are well done and easy to follow. The pieces were well protected inside the box, so the packaging is top notch. Yes it's somewhat expensive, but you get what you pay for, so avoid the many cheap knockoffs. This is made in the USA. I am thinking of buying another one in another color scheme for my bedroom.

The wooden map itself is wonderful. It took several hours to assemble, but the end result is worth the time and effort that goes into putting it together. My main drawback was that there weren’t enough adhesive dots included to mount the map. I used a double sided tape for the remainder.I do want to caution people that the adhesive dots that were included didn’t hold all of the pieces very well. There have been a few occasions where I found pieces of the map had fallen off the wall. When I remounted them with my own double sided tape, they stayed. In some cases, I used more dots on a continent than were recommended in the instructions and it still fell. Overall, it’s a great purchase and I look forward to adding pins to it as I travel!

The map is a gorgeous and fun addition above my beverage bar. It is well made and comes with everything you need to hang it.The island nations are a bit tricky to locate perfectly, but you can eye ball it easy enough.I bought Large and a set of pushpins.
