I just wanted to confirm for other buyers that this is a dry leaf extract. One of the reviewers said it was made from the roots. It is not. That being said I haven't tried it yet.

My hemorrhoids acted up a few weeks ago. No pain, but very itchy. I tried a lot of things like ointments and so on. Nothing helped, so I ordered it. The itching was gone after three days. So I stopped taking the herb and it came back. I took it a few days longer and then stopped, now I have no symptoms since a few weeks. I am a very happy customer.

I should have examined the label more closely. Xi Cao is made from the roots, not the leaves, of the gromwell plant. The roots contain the active ingredient, shikonin. The marketing of this as Zi Cao either deceptive or ignorant. Now I have to buy another product.
