Best Buy Under £50

These headphones are terrific value. Their solid build means they are going to last – AKG bent the cable 80,000 times during production just to test longevity. The generous padding is nice and comfy, while the 3m cable provides enough play for listening comfortably at home. This is a classic studio headphone design, and while you could just about get away with wearing these out on the street, the long cable demonstrates that they're not made specifically for that purpose. The sound is pleasingly expansive, with a breadth and scale rarely found in the kind of headphones you'd normally see on the high street at this sort of price. They certainly come across as smooth, not to mention the controlled bass. The midrange isn't quite as clean as you would like, but for the money, these are amongst the best over-ear headphones if affordability is a factor.

Good headphones

I bought these as my old AKG headphones have seen better days after a lot of use. I only tested them on piano quickly but as far as I can see they do for practice. Great sound quality, light and comfortable and the thin cans sit just right. The auto strap is always a good feature as they just sit comfy on your head and I have a large head. There is plenty of room inside the cans so your ears don’t get squashed. I’ve used AKG for studio work and practice for a really long time and the never disappoint. Well worth the money even the cheap ones.

Performance ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🎧 Clear & Crisp Sound: The sound quality is top-notch for podcasts and studio work, with great noise isolation.🎤 Studio Star: While the long cable might be cumbersome for travel, it’s perfect for studio environments.5. They look great, sound great, feel great.

[...]For quite some time, I searched for a set of headphones to use for listening to music in my day to day life but more importantly, to make music and track instruments with.Having used these over-ear closed-back headphones for nearly three months, I've gained a new appreciation for music. I can hear parts in the music that I have never heard before, after tens or hundreds of times listening to the same songs. The quality is truly impressive, and the sound immersive. I use my K92s for hard rock (Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Van Halen, Alice Cooper, Guns n Roses, ), rock (Pink Floyd), dance and trance music (Ian Van Dahl, ATB, Leftfield, KLF) to name a few.If you buy one of the high spec music production versions like the AKG 702 model, you'll be very pleased until you try to use them with your phone which (and my friend confirms) will unlikely be able to drive both speakers resulting in sound from only one side. The K92 headphones however are 32 ohms, requiring a maximum power of 200mW which means they'll work with your phone, laptop and probably most other devices without the need of a headphone amplifier. If you use a set of consumer headphones like [insert well known, vividly coloured, bass-heavy, brand here] then use the K92s, you'll be quite unimpressed. These will sound feeble, lacking in 'low-end'. This is because they are two completely different beasts. These are designed to be clear, and act as reference headphones - not bass pounding, ear-bleeding noise machines. You are of course free to us an equaliser in your music program to get that sound, be it iTunes, GoogleMusicPlayer, VLC and so on, but if you are willing to try without you'll soon get accustomed to their pure sound and learn to enjoy it even more. You'll hear more frequencies and dynamics in the music. You know how people who have given up processed sugars say that food tastes sweeter afterward? It's the same thing with your ears. Enjoy the ear nectar people.Points to note:Sound Isolation: I can sit next to a guitar amp with them on, tracking a song with the backing track and 'guitar-in' in the headphones and they hold up well.Noise bleed: if you drive them LOUD, the person next to you may whack you.Comfort: Sometimes I wear them for the best part of 11 - 12 hours, taking a break for 20 minutes here and there. Comfort is never an issue with these for me.Looks: "They're really nice looking headphones!". Yes. Yes they are.Sound: Phenominal. I've just brought a second set for leaving among my music gear, my brother has just ordered a set. My dad has just ordered a set.According to the back of the box:Frequency range: 16 Hz - 22 kHzMax input power: 200 mWInput impedance: 32 ohmsNet weight (without cable) 200 g (7 oz)Cable length 3 meters (9.8 ft)Main connection 3.5 mm (1/8") jack plug with 6.3 mm (1/4") screw on adapterDriver size: 40 mm
