Honeywell IS312B Pet Tolerant Passive Infrared (PIR) Motion Detector with Swivel Bracket (replaces model IS215T)

Excellent pir sensor , easy to install, reliable operation so far with no false triggering . Recommend

Bought to replace an old PIR which had gone faulty and started triggering at random (suspect dirty relay contacts).There was some confusion as to whether this came with a mounting bracket - this one does.In the end I didn't use the bracket and just screwed the sensor direct to the wall.Installation is easy, there's nothing to set up except pet mode and LED disable (by jumpers).The alarm contacts are via SSR on this sensor, so there's no relay to fail like in my old one.Sensitivity is very good, it picks up movement straight away but no false triggers at all.

Good value for money

This is a typical PIR sensor, can be fitted into a corner but is a bit fiddly to install. It's been in use for a while now, no false alarms, and seems to work well. Not tested with pets though, we don't have cats or dogs here.

easy fit replacement for ageing sensor, comes with fixing bracket which is quite bulk so I just screwed it into the corner of the room to give neater fit. will be buying more to replace others in the house.quick delivery

Suitable replacement PIR for my alarm system

As a PIR it was brilliant. Easy and neat to install although instructions a bit vague.However the pet tolerant part is only ok if your pets do not climb on tables, chairs, stairs or in fact go over 60cm/2ft where they will activate the detector.Checked with Honeywell Tech Support and they confirmed this was the case although this is not mentioned in any of their literature and I have since discovered that all pet tolerant PIRs work the same. I.e. They provide a pet alley up to 60cm where the PIR ignores animals up to 36Kg or heavier in the case of other units.If you have dogs or cats that will not climb above 60 cm then this is a good PIR but in my case the PIR was in the kitchen and the cats climb on the chairs, table or worktop so caused an alarm on day 1.Received a refund promptly from Amazon. Although no bracket is included, I cannot fault either the seller (who was very helpful indeed over the matter) or the product. In my experience, Honeywell alarm accessories are always good quality and this PIR is no exception.
