Brilliant Beginner's Book!
I bought this book as I'd just started facepainting - mainly on my 4 year-old son. I've been thoroughly impressed with it and have already seen my skills improve by working through the designs in it. It starts at first principles with information on materials and so on, but very quickly progresses to the point where you're actually picking up the attached brush and paints, and going for it.There's a good variety of designs in the book, ranging from simple cheek art to more complex butterflies, superheroes and vampires - something for everyone. The designs are very achievable for a beginner, and the book is very encouraging too. It almost feels like being cheered on by a friend, rather than being talked down to by an expert teacher. The end of the book brings a set of 12 "cheat cards" which are perforated and detach from the book, to be stored in a built-in envelope at the back. These are all for additional cheek art designs, and would work well for a mum or friend providing simple face painting at a birthday party.I was interested in trying Wolfe paints because I'd heard they were excellent for linework, and I certainly wasn't disappointed. The attached palette of 6 colours (black, white, red, blue, yellow and green) is very high quality. The paints work very quickly into a creamy consistency that goes on opaque with very little effort, and while it stays on very well, it isn't too difficult to wash off. A couple of the colours (red and green, in my experience) are harder to wash off than the others, but all do disappear with a normal soap-and-water wash. Even the brush is decent quality - I can easily make thin and thick lines with it, as the bristles form a good point and have a nice spring to them. All in all, I think this is a no-brainer choice for someone starting out in the craft of face painting. I sometimes wish that the palette could be detached from the actual book, but in honesty it's pretty convenient to be able to open the book flat at any page (it's spiral-bound, another plus!) and have the palette right there so that you can practice the designs.Brilliant job, Klutz!

Fantastic buy for kids or eager parents!
The book comes with a pallette of 6 great quality face paints, a good quality brush (about size 4-6) and a mini sponge. You have everything you need to get started. The book has a number of cheek designs to get you started, and the most popular boys and girls faces (dog, tiger, monster, butterfly, princess etc). Each one has a step by step picture guide to how to do it. I thought the designs were very basic, but perfect for a child who was wanting to give it a go themselves rather than an adult wanting to start a business! The cheek art images are the best, I think you might come a bit unstuck trying to do a whole face from just 3/4 images.I think also if you're a parent who isn't particularly arty, then this would be suitable, because the cheek art is very easy to follow the images and create something cute. There is a short section at the front on line work and sponging, but really you need to watch tutorials on youtube to get the best advice on this. I love the fact its spiral bound, as you could lay it flat when doing a design. The paints are such a good quality. The colours go on very vividly over other colours (when base colour is DRY), even the white. I had great fun painting different motifs on my arm the evening the book arrived. I painted a rainbow on my arm, left it overnight and the following morning washed it off. The red and green left the most marks, but nothing a bit of soap and a bit more effort couldn't budge. (The book says not to use red or green round the eyes and I can see why). The pages are also wipe clean which is fantastic. All in all, you get a great little set of paints, a decent brush and lots of good ideas, all for a really good price. If you're thinking of getting your kids a set, or even to get you started this is the place to start! You couldn't get these paints for this price on there own!

An amazing buy!
I bought this book after reading the previous reviews. Can't agree more with one of the reviewer - 'can't understand anyone who won't give this book a 5 star'. It's such a fun and easy to use book. so many ideas, inspires you to create even more by yourself. I'm a total beginner in face painting but I could easily do lots of the designs in the book. I particularly love the cheek painting and hand and foot painting. Some only take a minute to do, look amazing. Even my 6 years old daughter could copy the book and do quite a few! The paint came with the book is really good quality. The colours look simple and limited, but they're easily mixed into many many different colours. The paint brush is really good quality too. It allows you to do very delicate fine lines. And it's handy to have a little mixing tray. All in all I'm so delighted with this purchase. Simply take the book with you, you can do face painting anywhere. Can't praise enough of it!

Makes it so easy!!!!!!
For the actual face coverage/sponging, I prefer the Snazaroo paints which blend better and have longer staying power! However, this book is great fun and since my 3 and a half year old finds it difficult to sit still long enough for a full face paint, there are some fabulous ideas for quick faces and hands/arms/legs! I have always really struggled to paint fine lines before but either the brush or the paints themselves makes it so, so easy! Would be wonderful for Birthday parties etc too without having to spend too long on each child! Well, well worth the money!

Excellent
Just what I was looking for. Picture clear and description accurate, which was very pleasing as I was not sure what I was looking for at the time. I first went onto Argos for this kind of product, but someone left bad reviews and suggested Amazon and I am so glad that I did.The book is inspiring for the novice and the experienced, the simple steps to making what looks like a complicated finished design are inspired. Also the price was better than in Argos. If you are looking to or are hesitant in buying face paints, go for this one. I have only used these face paints with my niece and nephew once or twice this summer, but they store well and will be firm favourites as soon as the sun is shining again next year.
