My son recently started escaping from our windows and front door. It had been a very terrifying experience for us since he is only 3. He shows some mild signs of being on the Autism Spectrum, but we are still working with an early interventionist to get a diagnosis. The police brought my son home, Thank God, one morning around 6am he had left the apartment while we were sleeping. I found this device that same day on Amazon and slept on the couch with a 150 pd coffee table parked in front of the door while I waited for it to show up. All I can say is wow! Not only has this device kept my little boy safe but it has given me so much peace of mind! The best part is it doubles as a security measure to keep intruders out! I have never been happier with a child safety product than this one! Thank you for keeping my son safe!

This little door lock is pretty amazing. Recently, had to order a new lockset for a door leaving it completely unlocked for several days. The Trustella portable door lock is pretty small...only about 2" wide and 4" long and comes with a small travel pouch. While we did not use it for travel, I can see throwing this in a suitcase pocket so it's available if needed. It was a little tricky for me to figure out at first, but once you get it into place it's very study and feels very secure. Even my locksmith was impressed when he came back to finish the door lock repair and saw what we had been using.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:The other portable door lock option (addalocks) seemed like they would work only for people trying to open a door and not people who are kicking a door so I chose this product. It seems more sturdy to me.Durability:I tested this lock in a room with windows (no bars) at ground level (first floor) with my sneakers and socks nearby so if it got stuck I could still get in and out. I watched the video on how to put it on and take it off and had my brother on the other side try to come in. After he unlocked the door, he could not come in. He gave a kick and still couldn't. We didn't use too much force for fear of getting it stuck or cracking stuff, but it has proven to be good enough for basic use for me.I had difficulty inserting it between the plate area and trying to close the door while keeping it in place. My door didn't leave a lot of space there but I got it to work.The small screw to hold the door was a little too short for me. I guess the thickness of the sides of my doors is past standard doors. The little wing clamping to the sides of my doors is definitely very strong and would leave big indents even with the plastic cover, but luckily my doors are black so it's not that obvious.

I never knew this gadget existed. Now that I have it, I’ll take it everywhere I travel. Compact and easy to use. Nothing is more important than your safety, and when you’re in an unfamiliar place this gives you peace of mind. Makes a great gift for your fellow travelers, too.

I hate that I keep losing it because it's so small, but to be fair I also keep buying it and gifting it to people because I love it so much! Makes me feel safe whenever I'm away from home.

This absolutely works as described. I tried it out on my front door and it definitely kept the door from moving. Accordingly, it does provide a good amount of security. The only caveat I have is that this handy little gadget has to be screwed into the proper position to hold the door securely shut. While providing good security, it will make any type of quick exit, e.g., fire or other emergency, a little bit slower as you'll likewise need to unscrew it to remove it. In other words, this is not a quick-release item.

yfront door fit too closely for the metal to fit properly. In fact it messed up the wood frame and door. I made indentions in both. I am returning it.

Nice little lock, it works and it's very easy to use. Not the fastest to put on and take off though.
