Brilliant results but doing your research and following instructions are key!

Why did you choose this product over others?:I used this dye in conjunction with the Rit All-Pupose to dye a pair of black jeans which were very faded. The jeans are 80% cotton, 19% polyester and 1% vacose and before this I had tried the Dylon all-pupose dye for use in a washing machine which did absolutely nothing because as I now know mixed fabrics won't take to all dyes in the same way. So to dye the cotton I got the Rit All-Pupose and to dye the 19% polyester I got this Jacquard iDye Poly. The results I've gotten using both of these together have been fantastic but being aware of what material you are dealing with and following the instructions are cruicial to getting good results, this is probably why some others haven't had good results. To dye polyester you MUST simmer it in boiling water, a washing machine will not work as polyester has to reach a certain temprature to take to the dye.I got a cheap 16L cooking pot to use specifically for this as you should never use it for cooking afterwards. I filled it with water, about 3/4s full as my jeans need room to be able to move freely in the water when stiring later on, and brought to boiling point before adding 1 cup of salt (table salt will do fine, but ignore the instructions of adding vinegar if you are dying plyester), add all the dye and stir then turn the hob down so it's boiling only slightly. Then, I added my jeans. I left it simmering for 1 hour stirring every 3 minutes before removing them and rinsing them under a hot tap until the water runs clear of any ink. It's cruicial you don't take them out of the boiling water and run them under a cold tap as it'll shock the fabric and potentially cause the colour to be uneven. I rinsed my jeans for about 10 minutes under the hot tap with the tap setting on my boilet set to max then reducing it half way towards the end to slowly bring the temprature of the jeans down. After this there was no steam or ink coming off the jeans and were ready to go into the wahsing machine on a cold wash for 30-45 minutes - it must be on a cold wash! Afterwards I allowed them to dry naturally and I was really impressed by the results. Some of what I did such as washing them on a cold wash and bringing the temprature down slowly as to not shock the fabric was not included in the instructions so if you're not dying a mixed fabric similar to mine then I highly recommend doing some research firstas I did! It's a lot of work but worth it in the end.

No Good 👎🏻

Did not work. Super disappointed. The instructions, website AND Reddit users state it's made to dye polyester. I had two garments that were %30 poly and 70% cotton. The polyester parts were mostly coloured threads so expected them to dye no problem but that's not the case. The threads are still bright colours all it did was dye the plastic buttons. Took a lot work, I had to buy a huge steel curry pot to use on the cooker top (I didn't have an old one big enough), stood all day stirring, wearing rubber gloves and ringing in the sink and cleaning the kitchen up after for nothing. The cotton parts were pre dyed black(ish) from my previous attempt with dylon machine dye but even then it didn't get any darker so it wasn't worth it at all. The white cotton parts didn't even get darker! The water was boiling hot all day so I'm sure I followed the guide properly. Ahhh! **SIGH*

Did the job

Has an odd cooper/bronze sheen to the fabric in the light but did the job and covered well

Excellent dye

The product comes with clear, step by step instructions. Follow these to the letter and the finished result is excellent! Dyed a dress and shoes from white to charcoal/granite grey, these were 100% polyester and took up the dye brilliantly. Unfortunately the process smells like burning plastic and be very careful of any splashes - this dye is very potent and permanent!!

Turned a tan dress dark brown… but not black

Used this to see if I could turn my tan 95% polyester dress black. After being on a stove for 60 minutes with continued stirring it turned it a lovely dark (almost black) brown. The whole process was extremely easy, but does leave your arms a little sore! For a full transformation to black I would recommend using 2 packets or doing the process twice. I will also advise against hanging it over the bath to dry as it left some staining which took a few rounds of overnight bleaching to resolve.

Does not work on parasol material.

Does not work on parasol material.I have followed the instruction. The dye has only slightly tinted the material rather than full colour.

Harmful to skin - don’t use on clothes

Awful product, all instructions followed - yes it did dye the shirt I bought black, but after washing it with detergent as instructed - it also left dye all over my skin! I then tried re-washing it to make sure it wasn’t still leaving colour on my skin, but after the second wash it was a blue shirt again!Awful product, harmful to skin, doesn’t last past 2 washes and a total, total waste of money - avoid!!
