Totally worth the $40
It's awesome. If you're on the fence about getting it, go ahead and get it. It's as fun as you think it might be. I pick it up almost every day and play around with making beats for a while. I've spent many hours with it. The batteries last way longer than I expected also, which is surprising. Well worth the $40 spent on it.

Unleash Musical Creativity, ANYWHERE!
I love the stylophone beat. It is well built, intuitively designed, easy to learn, and portable. For the price and the size, it provides a vast range of musical possibilities. This is a great gift for musicians wanting to quickly experiment with ideas, or for people who casually want to make music on the go outside, or for kids who are just discovering and learning about percussion and harmonies!I bought a normal stylophone and the stylophone beat, and I returned the normal stylophone because the stylophone beat was just better and more fun in every way.I would strongly recommend this product to anyone who is even a little bit musical!

Very cool, Very fun- musical *Toy*
The media could not be loaded. This is technically a musical instrument. You could use it to jam along to with a guitar or other instrument. You could even output the basic beat you created on this into a DAW or a Roland sampler and work over it. But that would be more for a niche purpose and for kicks and giggles rather than it being a practical tool you use in the average beat making process. So while, yes, this is technically a musical instrument, be aware that this is really more of a musical TOY than an actual musical instrument or tool. That being said- it is a very cool little drum and bass looper toy! And even though this is a “toy”, it’s not just for kids. It can capture the attention and imagination of a grown adult as well. This would probably be too complicated for any kid under 8 years old- but for a musically interested eight-year-old or up this would be an amazing toy or gift. As an adult , with other sampler and looper experience, this was pretty intuitive and easy to pick up and start using right out of the box.Short summary of what it does- it lets you loop one drum bar (with or without a tempo click track/metronome) and layer more drums or bass sounds over that. It also has a few effects like an automatic sound isolator or automatic “beat chopper/repeater” when in the “PATRN” instrument option as well as a synth bass octave changing in the “TRNSP” option. The built-in speaker is surprisingly loud and has some actual bass to it. The stylus tapping to drum or trigger bass synth sounds feels a little strange at first, but becomes natural-ish quickly. It seems to have a built in “snap to grid” auto timed feature- meaning that if your drum hit or whatever is off the tempo slightly, it will auto put it where it should be placement wise in the recording. I initially thought I was looping everything perfectly until I realized it was helping lol. This is a pro and a con at the same time in my opinion, only because you can’t seem to turn it off. But definitely makes it more user friendly to kids and people without music gear or recording experience. As for negatives? It only lets you loop one bar, this is my biggest complaint. Really wish it let you loop at least two bars. Second biggest complaint would be that the hi hats and some of the bass sounds are way too loud and there’s no way to lower the velocity or volume level of a certain sounds. Also, you can only record one bass take, any subsequent bass overdubbing will record OVER and erase the previously recorded bass. Those are pretty much the only big complaints I have. Minor complaints would be that a lot of the sounds are too “synthy” and flat. Also, it would be nice to be able to save at least a few of the loops or have an option to insert an SD card- after turning it off the beat is erased. But at only $39 thats all easily overlooked. It only runs on 3 AA batteries- They seem to last for a decent stretch.Protip - you can actually squeeze in 2 bars if you do this little trick- lower the tempo to an estimated 40ish, and record your hi hats at double time (hitting the hi hat twice as fast). This will allow you to get 2 full bars in.

Best toy ever! Everyone should have it
My favorite toy ever! Wow this thing is so cool i would give 6 stars. Cheap, small, fairly easy to use. The drum and bass kits are pretty cool, the click metronome is priceless and the recording is so fun. Transpose seems over the top. Wish the recording loop was longer but for the price this goes above and beyond

MORE Than I Expected!
Bought also their synthesizer and I'm blown away with what this can do. Four different music types - Rock, Techno, Rap and Box! Then vibrato. Even able to record. So I can record then combine with their synthesizer along with my xylophone! Incredible!
