Very clever
I have been having great trouble getting the corks out of bottles of 2002 Fritz Haag GoldKapsul Auslese. Every time I tried to get the corks out using conventional corkscrews, including the usually excellent Le Creuset Wine Accessories LM250 Lever Model, Black, the corks crumbled and the corkscrew came out without the cork. The only way I could get the wine out was the push the crumbled cork back into the bottle and serve the wine through a fine sieve. Surfing the net I found out that twin prong cork pullers might be the answer so I ordered this Screwpull version. Bliss! Using the suggested technique of carefully pushing the prongs between the outside of the cork and the neck of the bottle and then gently rocking the cork clamped by the prongs, followed by pulling the handle upwards, the previously infuriating corks came out. I'm so pleased, because the wine was very expensive but getting it out of the bottle was such a battle I'd thought of getting rid the wine. In the past I've had trouble getting similarly fragile corks out of aged vintage port and I can see that this Screwpull device would have been a boon and saved having to pass the port through a fine sieve. I've tried using this device on non-problematic corks and it works a treat. For these latter corks it has the advantage that you can more easily push the cork back into the bottle if you haven't drunk the whole bottle. If so I hope you've giving the remaining wine a shot of argon gas Wine Enthusiast Private Preserve Wine Preservation Spray which from repeated experience I can vouch for in keeping wine in perfect condition for many days/

Screwpull prong cork extractor
This is a beautiful item elegantly boxed. Would make a good present to a wine buff. It works very well. I couldn't get the corks out of some oldish Riojas as the corks had become friable and always broke up with a conventional 'screw, but this prong puller works a treat every time and is easy to use (for any cork)
