Bike Hoist- Heavy Duty for Space Saving - Road, Commuter & Mountain Bikes, Holds Kayaks & Ladders - No-Hassle Installation for Quick & Easy Access

I had to install four of these in the ceiling of my garage. Installation was fairly straight-forward. Getting the bikes up and down is a little finicky, but since I dont need to access my bikes every day, I can live with this. For instance, some of my bikes dont have kick-stands, so getting both front and back hooks on the bike, while keeping the bike upright and one hand on the rope quickly makes you realize that you need 2 more hands (or a helper). I've had the bikes up for about 2 months now and no failures. The build quality of the metal parts seem adequate, and the included rope is serviceable. I would say that the quality of the rope is less than I would have hoped as it is stretchy and fairly cheap. Again, since I dont need to access my bikes frequently, this is not such a big issue, but I suspect that under heavy use, the rope will need to be replaced. BTW, they give you plenty of rope!

This product works exactly as advertised...and I couldn't be happier. It was fairly easy to install in my garage ceiling, is easy to use and is a great value for the money. I looked at much more expensive hoists - but eventually settled on this one - based on advice from my bike shop.It's not automatic - and it does require some strength to pull the bike up to the ceiling - but I'd say fairly minimal...nothing to oppressive.Truth in advertising - I did have my handyman bolt everything into the ceiling - but again, he described it as a pretty easy installation.

I purchased four of these to try and get the bicycles in my garage out of the way. Mounting them correctly takes a bit of time, and you do want to ensure you mount them correctly. I think they are rated for 50lbs, and I anchored mine in to the ceiling with 4-50lb anchors. Once they are up they are really easy to use. The hoist has a safety catch on it that won't let the item you're lifting fall unless you pull the cord in one direction. I would caution however(and this isn't a flaw with the ceiling hoist, but was more of an issue of my mounting), that if you quickly release the tension on the cord, and drop the bicycles(or whatever you are hanging), it has the potential to exert a lot more force on the hoist. When I quickly dropped the bicycle down, one of the hoists came out of the ceiling and pulled the anchors I put them up with with it. Once I secured it back up with stronger and additional anchors though, I had no problems. Each hoist has 2 parts which can accomodate up to 8 screws in it. If you manage to hit a stud, you can easily get away with just 4.Overall these are a great item and I plan to buy more of them to make room in my garage.

Installation was a bit time consuming. However, it was worth the time! Happy with the quality, great space saving product.

So this product I was very happy about let me say first that It’s easy to use and does the job. I have no complaints with the product itself because I ordered three of these. Out of the three one was defective so the odds are good. Just be super careful of the welding glue they use coming apart.

We used this bike holder to hang out Bob double stroller from the garage ceiling. It took two of us to hang it but it was pretty easy to hang. Even though it was designed for bikes it worked perfect for the double stroller. I highly recommend if you don’t really use your double all the time but aren’t ready to get rid of it.

I used this for a Kayak and it works great for that. It gets it of the floor and allows me to raise it up so that I can easily walk under it and also drive the cars under it. The problem comes in when you try to lower it. The line safety catch will not release when you try to lower the Kayak. This same technique works well for bicycles whereby you can get nearly directly under the the front roller/line safety catch. Things like a kayak are so wide that one has to stand off to the side to lower the kayak. Problem is that when you do this, it puts a side force on the safety catch holding in the latched mode which means it won't lower. Getting the kayak down once you are in this situation is a definite safety hazard and it becomes rather dangerous getting the Kayak down. This unit should NOT be used with wide objects like kayaks of canoes even though it is supposedly made for this application.

What a great product cleared up floor space and easy to install and easier to use! I will be ordering 2 more.

This is very similar to the generic hoists you see from many other sellers. I think this one is far better though as all the screws are in a line directly beneath the hoist itself, making it a lot easier to mount on standard width ceiling hoists.Bought two - love them! They don't merit being over twice the price of the other design, but they work exactly as I need them to

Works great. It is a two person job when getting bigger items, like a kayak, ready to be lifted. The straps around my kayak could have been tightened and it could have been raised closer to the ceiling. I am pleased with this product. It hasn’t fallen down. It is effortless to raise up and down.
