Perfect Summer Backpack
I have the Osprey Escapist 30L and 25L Biking Backpack. There are some slight differences in the two bags and, in the end, I prefer the 30L.When set next to each other, it is no surprise to see the 30L bag is deeper. The height is nearly the same, it adds space by expanding further out. Otherwise, on the surface, you don't see much difference. In my photos, the bag with the tag is the 30L. Both have a pouch accessible from the backplate area for your water bladder which is really nice. Now, the 25L bag unzips on both sides for full access, where the 30L unzips further down on one side but not as far on the other, leaving you with this odd access to what is inside. I wasn't crazy about that design difference and would have preferred the flap to fold fully open for better access to the interior. The larger size makes it much easier to put a sleeping bag in the bottom compartment. My summer weight sleeping bag barely fit in the 25L, but has room to spare in the 30L so I can add a liner AND my big, heavy sleeping mat. On the inside, there is a flap to hold your sleeping bag in place and keep it separate from the main compartment, but you can disconnect the flap if you want. Both bags come with an attached rain cover that zips into the bottom of the bag which also offers protection from setting your bag on wet ground, keeping your sleeping bag dry inside. The deep and wide mesh waist pockets fit my Samsung S24 Ultra without any problem, even in a large, protective case. They can easily hold snacks and are a better design than I have seen on the regular backpacking bags (of which I have three different styles.) There are a lot of compartments to keep items separate and help balance your load. The backplate is adjustable and the should straps and waist have a lot more strap length over the 25L I have in the same size. This 30L bag is much better for larger persons in height or breadth. The bag fits very well on my 5'4" frame. It would fit better on a taller person. I got the largest size I could use and the smallest my son's can use so we had flexibility. Photos of me wearing it are of the 25L but it fits the same, I just forgot to get photos when it was full. It is absolutely designed for bike-packers. You cannot attach much of anything externally. I am able to fit my tent inside, but only because my tent breaks down in shorter sections. I can fit everything I need for a 2-3 day backpacking trip in the bag, but it doesn't ride as comfortably for hiking as it does for biking. Considering it was first designed with bikers in mind, and hiking secondary, that is not a surprise. You can adjust it for better hiking, but it will take some extra time switching back and forth. All said, it is a well made backpack designed for the active person who likes a variety of activities and shorter trips. It is not going to hold a large bear vault or sleeping bag, choose something else for activities that require those. It does hold my smallest bear vault suitable for 1-3 days out. I hope this review is helpful for those trying to decide which option to select.

Beautiful blue if pricey bag
I agree with other reviewers that this seems overpriced but that’s the brand as a whole. If you’re a fan of the brand I won’t judge. The blue is a beautiful shade and like any Osprey bag this one is well made. It’s definitely made with real backpacking in mind. Depending on how much thru hiking you do and how often you stop to resupply, I could see this holding what you need for a week on the trail. The rain cover is colorful, which lets face it, is what you want so you’re easier to spot in the rain in the woods. If you’re on the trail in a storm, more visibility is better. All that said, it’s hard to justify the bag at this price point, so I’d only recommend it for those diehard fans of the Osprey brand who are extremely experienced backpackers and already know what they expect from the brand and a bag.
