Overall this is a good video doorbell. It’s super easy to set up and connect. Just download the Ring app and it guides you through the whole thing. The picture quality is excellent, the sound is good and the motion detection is pretty good too, you just need to play with the settings to get the right level of detection for yourself. It has missed a recent interaction at my front door as the motion was set to a frequency that doesn’t use the most battery life, so it pauses recording after a recent motion. This was frustrating, so I’ve had to adjust it to make sure it catches everything.It connected to my wifi super easily and paired with the chime easily too.The app is not entirely user friendly, there’s a lot on there and you have to go looking for the right thing to personalise it to your liking, but perhaps I’m expecting too much.I purchased this on 28th Dec and installed it with a fully charged battery the following day. I received a notification saying that the battery needed charging yesterday (28th Jan) as it was on 30% battery. So that gives you an idea of battery life, it also depends on what settings you apply to your doorbell as some features use more battery than others.I recommend that you do purchase an extra battery or you won’t have doorbell or video accessibility while it’s charging. The way this is designed is so you have to take the battery out to recharge it. I personally think it would be better if you could plug a charger into the device to recharge it in situ, it would be much more convenient to the consumer. Currently an extra battery is about £25, which is enough once you’ve purchased the doorbell plus the chime separately.Another bugbear is that to get video recordings after the 30 day free trial, you have to pay for a subscription which is currently £7.99 or £9.99 per month! Which I think is extremely expensive given the amount I’ve already spent. You can also get an annual subscription.Cost wise you should consider all these additions when comparing against other video doorbells.I’ve given this 4* as it is a good doorbell and the quality is excellent, you can pair it with your Alexa’s, your Amazon account and additional security add ons such as compatible security cameras and such. However there are other doorbells that are definitely comparable and probably don’t require the extra costs for video subscriptions and extra batteries.So while I’m happy with the tech and it does what it’s meant to, I also think it’s probably a bit of a money pit.

Works really well even in low light conditions.Very pleasant with it.The body of the unit is quite flimsy though as it’s mainly plastic.My brother bought one a couple of weeks before me and his is mainly metal casing but on Amazon they looked identical apart from that happy with the doorbell and a good price

Absolutely rubbish. On minimum settings drains a battery in 12 hours. Tried 3 different batteries. Refurbished my a@rse.

Missing pieces, missing screw and main bracket, it's beyond useless without main bracket to mount to wall
