Petzl E78AHB PIXA 1 Headlamp

I purchased this headlamp about 4 months ago for working on cars and home improvement projects. I have, over the years, used many work lights: floods, "drop lights" and others. The headlamp is never in the wrong place or shining in your eyes. I am 60+ now and light is a much more critical necessity when working with intricate parts. I have a lesser quality headlamp that I have used for years and this one is superior in every way. The construction is excellent and the large switch is perfect - no fumbling with gloves on for a small switch. This lamp provides a diffuse yet bright light that is very appropriate for a work area at arm's length. The up and down adjustment works great and is not easily skewed by accidental contact with your work environment. Illumination time with 2 alkaline batteries is as advertised (easily 8 hours); the light does dim some as battery voltage diminishes. I will raise my rating if the performance remains the same and is durable with time. So far, excellent results.UPDATE: Now 2 years later, I would change nothing previously written. The only minor issue has been the position or angle-holding detents have worn and it is now easier to bump the light and change the aim. A minor issue for an otherwise excellent headlamp.Update 2018: Still a great lamp, but it is approaching end of life. The elastic head band is less elastic and the lamp position detents are more easily overcome. I still use it and probably will replace it in another year with an identical new one.April 2020: These Petzl headlamps are fantastic. I was able to buy a replacement elastic band from Petzl for this headlamp and I am back in business. At the same time, I bought Petzl's newer version of this headlamp as well as another one which has a red lamp feature I will use with my astronomy telescope.I am sorry to report that in the last few days I have not been able to find my original Petzl with the new headband. I suspect a jealous observer has purloined it for their own use. So, beware of skullduggery when your headlamp is the envy of the neighborhood. :-)

Kinda heavy to have on the front of your head. Have to have the strap tight to keep it from sagging down your forehead. Seems sturdy though. And looks to be fairly water resistant

Hallo Freunde,hab Hunderte von Stunden mit diese wundervolle Kopflampe verbracht und rate von die teuerere Versionen einfach ab! Wozu den, mehr Geld ausgeben wenn Mann schon für 30€ eine perfekte Produkt bekommt. Für mehr Power? Muss es sein? Mehr klickoptionen? Finde ich unpraktischer als einfach Ein/Aus! Es ist zum lesen bestens geeignet, für Wald in Distanz nicht so! Dafür versorgt mit 2 AA Batterien, die deutlich besser als AAA Batterien sind und auch besser als nur 1 AA Batterie. Klar es kommt auf dem Gewicht ein bisschen was drauf, dafür muss Mann aber halt nicht so oft Batteriewechsel machen. Ich schätze mal, das mit meine Eneloop neueste Generation Akkus, über 4-5 Stunden maximale Leistung hab und dann ungefähr noch mal so viel auf Energiesparmodus den ich als sehr wichtig empfinde. Die Lampe ist sehr robust, hochwertig, stoßfest, wasserfest, zuverlässig, günstig, bedienungsfreundlich und überascht einen sehr possitiv. Also Finger weg von andere Produkten, die sich nicht so viel lohnen wie diese hier! Noch was hab ich vergessen zu sagen, es lässt sich als schwenkbare Aufstelllampe benutzen + an Sicherheitshelm beffestigen (Band wird nicht schmutzig), was keine andere Produkt als Bonus hat! Abnehmbar, halt, sehr praktisch! Zu letzt, die Farben Gelb-Schwarz sind meine Lieblings, in die Natur heißt DANGER, und sieht toll aus!Ich gratuliere die jenige die sich dafür entschieden haben, und euch alle viel Spass mit eure Lichtbabies... he he

I've used head lamps before but never found the right one for close up electrical work. The Petzl PIXA 1 has changed all that. The LED and diffuser provide a uniform light which is perfect for close up work. The head strap is comfortable and the robust build and positive switch means you can store the lamp in your tool bag without accidentely switching the lamp on or damaging the lens.Its a must have for Electricians or any other trades that finds themselves needing hands free, close up work in bad lighting conditions.
