Highly recommend
I have to admit I'm not normally a fan of the dom/sub books but this one is written perfectly; there's an air of mystery and suspense flowing through the heart of the story that kept me reading. Where is Rebecca?!?!?!The sex scenes were extremely hot but tame considering what the story hints towards, so I get the feeling that the dom/sub scenes will only get more intense and frequent as the story progresses.I love that there are so many twists and turns and that the answers just seem to dig up more questions for me. I did find Sara slightly annoying in that she's supposedly worried for a "friend" yet allows herself to be distracted so easily... but then if you're not shouting at the characters in the book then it's not a good book in my eyes šThere are however 2 paragraphs that annoyed me; both concern Sara's inferiority complex when it comes to money. The scene where Chris hands the valet $100 and she's says in outrage that it's "one 6th of her weekly wage"!?!?! I would LOVE to earn $600 a week!!!!! And her feeling inferior kinda made me feel like a bum to be honest. But that's my inferior showing š and I'm not going to hold it against the author or the characters hahaI enjoyed this book more than I thought I would and thanks to the ending I will definitely be purchasing the next in the series

Said to be like FSOG it similar but not the same
This has been sold as being along the lines of if you like Fifty Shades of Grey you'll love this. Well I liked FSOG but this not as much, its similar but not the same. Both books have young women who fall for devastatingly handsome men the difference is one has no life experience and the other had skeletons. The added twist in this book is the gallery owner!!!In FSOG we keep getting the chewed lip and twitchy palm here we get crackling air and her constant self doubt. Why is it that the women in these books are never fully happy with themselves or is this why they are enchanted by the world of BDSM?The erotica in FSOG was reasonable but here it is sorely lacking - just enough to keep us interested but not enough to really show you what the male characters are in to.The ending was frightfully sudden and made me feel as though this is in fact one book that had been chopped into three. Probably to ensure that people will buy them all. But the price is rather grand and although I am intrigued by the 5 separate journals I think the trio may have to be my limit. For a book better than FSOG try the Sylvia Day Cross fire series!

A SEDUCTIVE PAGE TURNER
First of a trilogy, and a first read for me by this author. The blurb says this is Fifty Shades of Grey meets Basic instincts. So far in this first story I am not seeing either of those.Sara McMillan is an English teacher, she appears to just plod along in life, no boyfriends or casual relationships either. Her best friend Emma has left a journal in Sara's flat, and although she knows she shouldn't she reads it. Believing it to be Emma's, what she reads shocks her. Sara didn't think for a minute that her friend Emma was into the sort of things described there. But when Emma arrives she laughs that Sara thought this journal was hers. Emma looking to make some money had bought up the contents of some storage units where the owners had failed to keep up the rents. This journal was inside one of the units. Emma announces that her rich doctor boyfriend David whom she has only known for three months has proposed and they are off to Paris. Sara is concerned she has only met this guy once herself. But Emma is ecstatic and will not hear anything negative, regarding her plans.Emma gifts Sara the contents of the storage units. So begins Sara's obsession with finding the owner of the journal. After visiting the storage unit Sara discovers that there are more journals. The author a woman named Rebecca worked at "Riptide" a well known and respected art Gallery. Without going into too much detail, Sara after attending an evening function at said gallery manages to wangle herself a job there. As school is out for the summer, this presents no problem. Plus quite conveniently Sara has a degree in Art, and interned at an art museum. The enigmatic and powerful manager Mark Compton sees something in Sara and is keen for her to do well. Sara is rather intimidated by Mark. Then there is Chris Merit the famous painter, who is attracted to Sara, she in turn finds him totally fascinating. They very quickly embark on a torrid affair.I liked this first installment very much. The characters are well drawn. Everyone has secrets just waiting to come out. What is Mark really after, Chris is obviously tormented by something in his past, and as for Rebecca the whole reason for Sara being there we do not find out very much except that she is on an open ended vacation. Has something bad happened to her or not? I thought Sara should have been a little more concerned about her best friend Emma, rather than some stranger she has never met. Because it seemed to me that Sara just wants to live Rebecca's life, and escape from her own monotonous existence. For those readers who are more mystery and suspense fans this might not be your thing, as that part of the story is not very prominent. In fact this is what I would class as an erotic romance. There are some hints to BDSM, but that is all. Whether that will be expanded on in the next book we shall have to wait and see. As to who is the un-named man in the journals, there are clues, but they could be red herrings. This certainly was an addictive read, I eagerly await the next book.

Pageturner
Where do I start? The beginning intrigued me. Where was the author of the journals? The heroine was a teacher, she sounded rather timid, how wrong was I. I could not put my kindle down. I am now on a mission to read, read, read ALL the books in the series.

5 stars
I loved this! Romantic suspense isn't usually my go to genre but this book had me hooked.Mark and Chris are both dangerous and sexy as hell. I'd love a visit to Mark's club.I would have loved to read more of Rebecca's journal entries. I found her experiences more exciting than Sara's and I'm dying to know what happened to her. This book had a huge cliff hanger ending. I usually hate those but it's definitely made me want to read book two.

amazing read
This was a very enjoyable book. Once I started, nothing was going to get me to put it down.It moved along at a great pace, had very interesting characters and a story that was entertaining from the very beginning. When I finished the book, I needed more and was upset as I didn't have the next book yet.Lisa Renee Jones is an awesome author and I look forward to reading much more from this talented author in the near future.

Hard to rate
I have found this a difficult one to rate. There is something missing in the story, and the way Sara and Chris fall into their relationship seems too quick and easy for me. I know - it's fiction, however, there needs to be believable stuff in fiction.I also want more of the mystery surrounding Rebecca to be revealed, I guess that is still ahead.I give this an average 2.5 star rating. Not sure if I will continue reading the series.

very good read
If you like a book with a bit of submissive/dominant content. You will enjoy this book. It has a suspense storyline that draws you to keep reading. A girl finds journals written by another girl. She follows clues to where this girl could be. There is a sequel to this book called Being Me coming in June.

A must read before it becomes a TV series.
This is a must read series. This was the first book I read by Lisa Renee Jones and I couldn't put it down. Sara and Chris have a chemistry that defies the pain of the past and yet shapes who they are as a couple and as individuals. I can't wait to see the a TV series based on the series.

itās been too long since I've had a strong, darker story make me flip the pages so fast
If I Were You is the first installment in Lisa Renee Jonesās adult romance series titled Inside Out. Itās got secrets, mystery, intrigue, troubled characters, and romance, along with some dark themes that are about to get darker Iām afraid. Actually, Iām not afraid ā itās been too long since I've had a strong, darker story make me flip the pages so fast. The mystery element has me drawing conclusion after conclusion, and just when I think I have a solid theory about what has happened, some little tidbit of information is revealed that suddenly makes my theory seem less likely. I'm sure it sounds frustrating, but it's soooo not. I'm loving every second of it!The genres listed for this book include romance, erotica, BDSM, contemporary, mystery, and suspense. With this book, the reader is just at the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the erotica/BDSM elements, so weāll see if I continue to enjoy the series as much as I hope I will once this element is fully introduced. I am typically very picky about erotica; I will DNF in a second if itās just random sex scenes just because. But so far, the story is strong, the character development is growing increasingly thorough, and I am optimistic this is a winning series for me. Even if for some reason itās not, itās a damn good start. My favorite quote:āOther peopleās perfection is a facade we create when we are second guessing ourselves...ā

I waited too long to jump on this bandwagon!
So I kept seeing these series pop up everywhere cause of what I like to read and I kept putting it off.. It went on sale and I decided WTH.. And Mercy mercy me! I've waited too long! Great story... I loved all parts of this book from Ella and her mysterious new life, Rebecca's journals to incite something deeper in Sara's psyche to want and need and these two men characters that as she puts it... Has a cockfight over her.. Not sure if I could write that in a review but oh well! I loved it! I loved the mystery behind Rebecca's disappearance.. Her journals.. This mysterious person.. The way Sara basically inserts herself into this world with ease only to find herself may be in over her head or just where she belongs..? Chris. Chris. Chris.. I LIKE HIM.. He's that bad boy, rebel who has the charm and ability to knock your socks off in ANY setting! He's of course filthy rich and finds himself attracted to Sara.. Mark Compton- still an enigma to me.. I'm interested to find out more about him! The sex scenes are good and their chemistry is wonderful but it's just something about Chris... Now if I can say what I don't like.. The ending.. These crazy cliffhangers.. I mean literally in the middle of a scene that could prove to be pivotal and that's it..?!?!?!!!! I'm glad that I brought the first three books some jumped right into the next one but goodness! If I hadn't I would've had a heart attack! Thanks for getting me hooked Lisa! Now I love this series and your Secret Life of Amy Benson series... Agggggggghhhh

Lisa does NOT disappoint! This book (and the whole series) is simply amazing! I honestly like it better than 50 Shades (even though I like that too).....I highly recommend ANY of Lisa's books to everyone who likes a good steamy romance story with some angst and action.
