Works like a charm with a pcie 3.0 SSD and PCIE 3.0 16x slot
Works as described. You have to remember how fast SSD's are, even a PCIE 3.0 slot at 16x cannot operate ssd v4.0 cards, ( well it can, but you will only get pcie 3.0 x16 speeds. There is an option to upgrade to pcie 4.0 slot, pick that one if you motherboard has pcie 4.0 and an available pcie 4.0 16x slot. Once inserted, it automatically recognized the drive and tried to boot to the OS that was on it. I had to take it back out and erase the ssd to stop it from trying to boot the OS. It is not recognized in the BIOS because the card does not have any bios chip.

Solid reliability and flexible design. Just works
Solid product. I purchased one about 2 years ago, and it has been no problems reliable. And this one appears to be headed the same way. Installed M2 NVMe SDD without issues and used Clonezilla to clone the old SATA SSD onto it using an USB3 <-> SATA adapter and Bob Was Your Uncle. One caveat. The video we found describing how to install the M2 SSD onto this brand PCIe card shows the individual touching electrical contacts without any Static Electricity precautions. Don't do that. Take care not to touch the gold contacts on both the PCIe card and the M2 NVMe SSD. Used in a Dell Precision 5820 Tower (manufactured in 2017) which can recognize and boot off of PCIe connected mass storage devices. Also, for completeness - the Dell 5820 has PCIe 3.? slots and uses the Intel C422 chipset with a Xeon "W" CPU.

Heavy Duty Heat Sink!
Well made heavy duty aluminum enclosure!!! pretty easy to install… just flip top cover, then MAKE SURE you rotate the pin that secure the (M.2 ssd bought separately) all the way so that ssd fits perfect in place then rotate pin back to secure it in place. Now Peel film on sticky tape and close it on top of ssd until it clicks. Done. Now take module and place in an empty PCI slot on comp. Go to disk management, find and name drive, format it and Voila !!!

Great except gets too hot running continually at PCIe 5.0 speed on my machine
I have an Asus Rog Maximus Z690 Hero motherboard using it's expansion card for the first PCIe5 drive. The Sabrent card goes into the first x16 slot after removing the graphics card.Found out that CSM no longer works without a graphics card so no legacy booting (which is ok.)Enclosure works great except a full clone of a 9100 Pro to another 9100 pro will overheat. When that occurs Macrium Reflect X throws an error 9 (1392) corrupt file or folder.I believe the source boot sector gets corrupted so be careful if this ever happens.Macrium Rapid Delta Clones that only take a few seconds always work at about 9.5GB/s.I have ordered another enclosure and will try to modify it so can use a large Sabrent Rocket heatsink.Would prefer to use a Samsung 9100 Pro with heatsink, but can't put into the enclosure.Bottom line, if copying a lot of data at full PCIe5 speed the enclosure gets too hot.

has held up well for an old motherboard that didn’t have M.2 sockets.
I’m using this on an older motherboard before M.2 was a thing and everything was SATA. Although I’m running only Gen3, it seems to work well. Nice that you can replace the SSD with the only tool needed is for the screw mounting to CEM slot and that probably really isn’t needed.

A Life Saver!
I own an Asrock B450M Pro4 but in my ignorance I did not realize it only had 1 Ultra M.2 slot, so I was relegated to having one lightning fast NVME drive and one slow one in the secondary slot. Much to my surprise an item like this adapter existed. I slotted it in and it recognized my 2nd WD SN7100 drive with no problem!! 100% pleased with this!

Speedy Little Upgrade, Just Ignore the Vague Scroll of Assembly
Great card, but the instructions ghosted me on the final step.Installed this little beast to give my old PC a much-needed kick in the PCIe lanes, and wow it's like giving a Vespa rocket fuel. It does exactly what it promises: makes your NVMe SSD feel like it was born to be there, nestled into your motherboard like it’s always belonged.BUT (and this is a lighthearted “but”), the instructions were about as helpful as a GPS that only gets you 95% of the way to your destination and then says, “You got this.” Nowhere did it mention putting the cover back on. You know, the part that protects your very expensive, very fast storage from flailing around like a toddler on espresso. Also included were these mysterious little thermal padding strips (thermal pads! That’s the word!) which I, a humble user with no mind-reading ability, had to Google to figure out. At first, I thought they were futuristic chewing gum or abstract art. Spoiler: they go between the drive and the heatsink. Not between your stress and sanity. In the end, once I figured it out (read: watched YouTube and got gently roasted by Linus Tech Tips in my imagination), everything worked perfectly. It’s solid, sleek, and fast. Just be prepared to finish the installation like a puzzle with the last piece hiding under the couch.Would buy again. Would just also like to have a small chat with the instruction writer. Preferably over tea.
