Better than most for quality and design
Like most Manfrotto products this background support is very well designed and packaged nicely in the box, carrying case is one if the better ones I’ve seen. The interlocking pieces are cleverly done and I especially like the extendable rod (much like a curtain rod one can pull it out turn it and lick it at the length you want). Unlike some rods that come in two pieces for a background this size it doesn’t sag in the middle and packing it away is a breeze. The extendable stands are beautifully designed and in the fashion of Manfrotto for locking etc. Some reviews have criticized this unit for not being up to Manfrotto standards, as in the case of a more heavy weight studio light stand. And yes there correct it’s not as heavy duty nor should it be. And yet don’t underestimate the stability of this unit. There are very few background stands of this quality at this or lower price ranger. Those looking to buy a new background support have realize pro supports are generally not featured on this or other common photography sites...this is not for commercial or pro work. Keeping that perspective this is a good deal.

Manfrotto makes great gear and this is no exception. Sturdy and light weight at the same time. This is a good buy

nice interlocking support set
Manfrotto just has an 'I'm going to be OK' feel to it. Loved the interlocking mechanism. Would recommend to a friend.

Innovative, but flimsy
The packaging and finish were up to my expectations. The kit included an innovative push-button design that helped to fasten the two legs of the background stand together. However the diameter of the stand support poles was less than I expected. When the stand was fully extended it was very top heavy and flexed too much for my taste. I was constantly worrying that someone would knock the backdrop over unto their head. I did not get a feel that the backdrop support was steady/stable. The cross bar was held in place with a clamp to attach it to either of the support poles. This clamp was bulky and had to be threaded through the top of your backdrop cloth. This worked fine if the cloth had a very large opening through which to thread the clamp. If not, you had to take an allen wrench, loosen the clamp, remove the clamp from the crossbar, thread on your backdrop cloth then reattach the clamp. A very tedious and lengthy process just to get a new background cloth unto the support. The kit included a set of clamps to attach a cloth to the poles without having to thread the backdrop over the crossbar. However, my kit came with one clamp broken. I sent in my proof of purchase and contacted Manfrotto for a replacement. After a delay of over a week (this was during the holiday season, however) I was told I would need to fill out an order form and send them $19 for the part. After explaining that I had purchased the kit new and the part had come from the manufacturer in non-functioning state, i was told that if I once again submitted my receipt, they would forward me the part at no charge - after all this hassle and time, however, I opted for a return of the backdrop for refund and have purchased another manufacturer's kit.

Too expensive for what it is!
Well, this combo set is decent, however the clamps that come with it are not necessary. Go to home depot and purchase clamps for 10 bucks. The stand itself and the extension bar is ok...but for 250 bucks, i was expecting a bit more. the turn lock on top bar is a bit of a pain, but it works and seems durable. the light stands that are used as side supports are my favorites that i normally use regardless. I would have given 5 stars is they had something in the kit that associates with using rolls or backdrop paper rather than cheap spring clamps. Each light stand normally costs 80 bucks..thats 160 dollars for two. now the backdrop pole costs 40 to 50 bucks maybe? so now u are at 200...and the bag 20 to 30 bucks? probably best if u part it out with seperate stands and the ext pole and who cares on clamps and bag and save urself some major cash! Taking this into acct, i might return the set and part it out considering what actually comes with the set. Not saving much at all. jmho.

Not worth the price.
Not worth the price. Manfrotto has amazing quality tripods so I expected the same from this set. When extended completely, it is very flimsy. I read previous reviews and that was an issue I read but didnt want to believe it because well, its manfrotto! Please believe it. The stands are flimsy. The cross bar is very sturdy, no way itll bend. I am just scared this will tilt forward and fall on my clients.

Three Stars
OK build, but telescoping cross bar jammed after second use.
