Stylish, Light and Reliable
First things first... I'm late 40's and have developed an unexpected problem with my hip. I was therefore looking for a "walking aid" that fits my age bracket (HIP & trendy! -lol). This stick hit the mark straight away. Really pleased with the way it's finished. The carbon fibre weave is subtle but stylish! The "Derby Style" handle is solid in the hand (not at all rubbery) so don't expect any cushioning if you have delicate palms. Mine are OK, so no issues and it actually fits the hand nicely and feels solid to hold when supporting yourself or walking. The ferrule (rubber foot) on the end is also more stylish than standard / other versions in my opinion.Being made of carbon fibre means this stick is about 30% lighter than its aluminium brothers & sisters. Another positive in my opinion. If you are folding it and putting it in a bag, the weight can make a difference, just as it could if you have any upper body or arm muscle weakness. When in use the stick feels sturdy and reliable. It's easy to adjust its length with the loosening of a collar and the press of a button. When tightened fully after adjustment, there is very little if any "click" from the pieces knocking together in use. It's almost silent, unlike many aluminium versions I would imagine. Finally the stick folds easily with an elastic cord holding the 4 pieces together, same as others. But with this stick you also get the little plastic holder to slide over the stick when folded. This is much better than those that simply offer a cord to hold the folded stick together. All in all highly recommend for anyone looking for a reliable, well made, light and stylish, folding walking aid. Good for men and women, but I would imagine the design would appeal mostly to my hobbling "brothers'".Good value for.money and delivered fast by Amazon as usual.

A Practical & Psychological Boost...
Ok, in short. Pneumonia with Sepsis. Seven weeks in hospital. Seven weeks in bed. Muscle atrophy. Have to learn to stand up again unaided, never mind walk. Hence the very obvious need for a walking cane once I'd got enough strength and confidence to take the (short and wobbly) step from a frame to a cane. Much deliberation ensued. Knew only that I didn't want one of those prosaic metal canes, such ugly things with no grace or style, if you are going to need a walking aid for the forseeable then opt for something a little more attractive instead whilst still being functional, a combination that is rare these days. Happily, this cane achieves both. It is light, it feels strong, it looks ("....oooh, is that a carbon fibre one?") good and its hellishly easy to put together and adjust for size, being compact in design as well-so be warned, it arrives in little more than Jiffy-type bag & you'll wonder what's in it as '...it can't be the cane I ordered'. But it is. I immediately felt comfortable using it, having never had to rely on one before, we still took to one another straight away, perfect chemistry and the confidence to venture further afield every time I go outside for exercise. I expect, as I grow stronger, its day to day use will diminish for now, but no matter, for the more arduous of walks it will still join me, a prop rather than a neccessity but, for all that, a most pleasing one which I really cannot fault.

Excellent walking stick which packs up neatly so that it takes up very little space in a bag. The lightweight construction is also an advantage.Soft feel handle is comfortable. Height adjustment good.Very pleased to have support and stability within moments when needed.

Carbon fibre 4 fold walking stick
Bought to replace my 12 year old very expensive original walking stick. It is virtually the twin of my original but is excellent value for money ( saving me over £40 ). Extremely lightweight and attractive in appearance .HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

A quality item
ALUMINIUM OR CABON FIBREBeing a pensioner with a very painful back and sciatica I felt that a walking stick may be of benefit when walking so I purchased one of the more expensive aluminium folding ones. However after assembling the unit I felt the quality was not as good as it might be.For example:-1) The aluminium tubing used was very thin and sharp which could start to cut through the stretchy cord when folding.2) Each folding section had a flared end for the adjoining section to enter for assembly and I found that after small amount of use the joints started to wedge together making it hard to dissemble for folding.3) I also did not like the fact that that the height adjustment section could twist so that locating the adjustment pin could be hard to find.4) On checking the ferule on the bottom of the cane it was easy to see how some people have complained that the sharp tubing had cut through the rubber.5) The black coating was also showing signs of wearing through.6) Last but not least there was a clicking noise when in use.All these problems were noted on the first day of use inside the house on a carpeted floor. After sending the first cane back I ordered the Deluxe Carbon Fibre Unit which overcame all of the problems noted on the original. :1) The carbon fibre tubing was thicker and not sharp.2) As the sections were designed to be a butt joint rather than a wedge the cane was easier to take apart and assemble.3) The adjustment was a far better design as the adjustment tube could not rotate therefor alining the adjustment pin was a simple straight sliding action.4) Although the thicker tubing would go some way in reducing the chance of it cutting through the rubber ferrule this ferrule had a metal washer in the bottom. Simple but effective.5) The carbon has a classier look and shows no signs of wear.6) No clicking noise.Happy to have paid a bit more for better quality.
