881170a15-4000 side mount Gen I for mercury outboard engine throttle control box 2-stroke 8pin

Bought this to replace an old broken control box on a Pontoon with a 1987 Merc 150hp. Was easy to install even though I installed it differently than the existing control box. I took it out on the lake for an entire day yesterday for the first time since installing, and had zero issues. Wish I would have bit the bullet and put this on a couple years ago! The description doesn't mention this, however, you can mount the shift lever on either the left or right side of the control box. I left it as left side of box for right side mounting. So far the tilt/trim switch and grip lock is holding up fine (other reviews said they broke right away or soon after installation). Time will tell on the durability, but so far its working great, glad I purchased it!

Piece of garbage! Put in boat and popped fuse took apart and hot wires were pinched shorted out.

I had read other reviews and problems with tilt trim switch. Well not to surprised that the switch is bad straight from the box. I will install a quality switch myself. The rest was no problem and worked well on 25 hp 2 stroke mariner.

Instructions were easy to follow with step by step installation. Have had no problems with the product so far.

Easy to install the control cables and is compatible with my late model Force outboard motors. I have a 50hp 1996 and a 70hp not sure what year as the sticker is missing but I believe it's a 1994. Has the power trim and the plug for the tachometer harness. Far cheaper than buying a used unit of unknown condition.

I’ve had this on my boat for about a year and a half, and yesterday the trim switch just disintegrated and fell apart! Same thing that happened to another person here. Don’t buy this junk. Not worth it. COMPLETE waste of money.

I believe that all of these controls are built in the same place somewhere in China, even the one from Mercury/Quicksilver (compare the photos - both say "Powerop Tec"). I bought this controller from another seller and sent it back because it didn't have the tilt control shown in the photo. This one does, appears to be well made, and the installation instructions are simple, direct, and easy to understand.
