Great Value. Works perfectly.
Works great. I knew the used Mercedes from Carmax was partially painted. This gave the same consistant readings repeatedly. RePainted area read from 0.24 to 0.30mm , whereas non-repaintet was approx. 0.16mm. Traded the car in on another used Carmax car, but not before going over it with this paint depth reader. Reads between 0.14 and 0.16 mm on new car throughout. Don,t spend any more money than you have to.

Works great, paint is surprisingly thin.
Wanted to check my car paint thickness, and indeed it is insanely thin. No thinner on my car than most though. And checking the thickness of PPF is kinda handy.

A little clunky, but does what it's supposed to do.
While shopping for a used car this device came in very handy to help uncover undisclosed damage by unscrupulous sellers and dealers. From what I can tell it's accurate within +3 millimeters. Take that into consideration when using.

Terribly inaccurate
Not even close to matching a professional instrument. Had some body work done on my car and while it showed the paint as being thicker than the rest of the car, it was absurdly inaccurate. Calibrated numerous times, zero calibrated numerous times. Body shop showed me their measurements of unrepaired areas and repaired areas and they were what you'd expect (5.8 mils in factory paint 11.2 in repainted) while this gauge showed 17 mils in factory paint, 40 in the repainted areas.
