Bought this to replace an existing sensor which had passed its sell by date. I looked long and hard before deciding on this item. I was not disappointed. It appears to be of good quality and was relatively easy to install. The swivel on the sensor allowed me to position the sensor exactly as I wanted and as a result it works perfectly. It is also very easy to adjust both for the duration of illumination as well as light sensitivity. I’d recommend this product.

Very pleased with this product. Purchased to replace a cheaper sensor recently bought from Amazon from another manufacturer. The latter was constantly illuminating the lights without any reason. This is working perfectly and was easy to adjust for range, The wires are non standard colours but easy to instal with reference to the instructions which are pictorial.

First unit sent was faulty and replaced next day. It works well, good service.First unit sent back to Amazon 31-0--24 via post office.

This sensor works very efficiently, it is well made and is simple to install. it benefits from an unobtrusive design.A good product.

My old (approx. 35 yr) motion sensor finally gave up the ghost and this took its place in the circuit with little adjustment. It's small, white, unobtrusive & easy to install. Keep the wiring diagram just in case you need it in future. You wire mains in & then wire out to the light & that's not fiddly: just like putting a 2 pole switch (which is what it is) into a lighting circuit. It has a nice optional plastic plate to mount the sensor to a vertical surface which allows cables to be installed through the back & I bet the designer never mounted his creation 'cos that plate is a very fiddly. Getting the angles right to switch the light on at the desired point on your property is a bit more tricky but the sensor moves quite easily. I would prefer a timer that was moved by a screwdriver rather than a finger 'cos one tends to move the carefully positioned sensor with the same movement one moves the timer and it's the devil to return it to the original setting. It looks made to last & we'll see if it's still working in 30 years.

I've used a number of cheaper PIRs which have failed after a short time. This time I decided to spend a little more money and I'm really pleased with the Steinel sensor. It's very well made, easy to install and is working well, despite the horrendous weather we've had recently.

This Steinel PIR is absolutely useless, wired it up, didn't work at all, totally dead.

It was my own fault, but I bought this to replace an external ‘Steinel PIR IS 140-2 PIR’ that decided to trip my CB. When I came to install it I realised that it requires 2 holes drilled through an external wall - not at all convenient! With the previous Steinel 140-2 unit, I just dropped the mains cable down from the roof, the ‘Steinel 140’ unit comes with a wall mounting bracket that lets you take the cable in from the bottom-side, this unit does not - it has to go directly into the back, hence 2 holes in your brickwork from a bedroom maybe! Couldn’t find a wall bracket for this device so I ordered another Steinel 140-2 unit.
