This works GREAT! Extends our Starlink from our house out to our shop with no issues on connectivity. Love that it doesn’t need a power source. Super easy to set up

initially I expected to return this as it showed now link lights or any power on status. I did a reset and was able to see a broadcast SSID. I have connected this with two 12in cat 6 cables. Range was exceptional but even with my sequential gigabit connection I only see 30 megabits per second. I swapped the cables for 2 known good cat5e cables, and the same speeds. I then pulled out a box of cables and began swapping them around. I tried different switches, I tried connecting directly to my router. I even tried pulling files locally from my NAS. Nothing is able to get much above 30 Mbps at about 15-20 feet, line-of-sight.Even pulling a file directly from my NAS peaked at about 3.5 MBps.My phone is even worse.. 10Mpbs, again standing arms reach from the device.I truly have no clue what the use case for this would be with these speeds. even for the sub $50 price point I find this ridiculous. Moving out of line of sight at about 10 yards renders this AP to nothing more than 'connected'I bought this for a small business to extended their WiFi coverage to a small garage some 30 yards away so their techs would be able to use a PC for emails and general web browsing. After the distance tests at my shop I was pricing out the cost to build my personal network around this line of products, then I began speed testing and confirming function and am almost embarrassed to deploy this for a customer

TP-link AP's are the sweet spot for me, vlan aware and easy setup. I'm using them in standalone mode without controller. This is the 3rd TP-link AP we've purchased expanding our home coverage.

I've only had this for a day, I'll update this if my conclusions change. There are some good things about this access point. It would be an excellent choice if you need to add a diversity pair of Yagi or other high gain directional antennas. In this price range its very difficult to find removable antennas. Its easy to mount to either a mast or wall. In my application I put it in a window to service my pool area, it works pretty well, although the CPE210 with MIMO would probably be better. If I were mounting to a mast I'd cover all of the seams with silicone or other waterproofing, but it looks pretty good as is. It seems well suited for this use. The down sides are all software related. To those who can't make it work,: I went through some trial and error. Basically you CANNOT configure this unit unless it's attached to a network with a DHCP server - period. Once you understand that its pretty easy. I found it easier to scan for the assigned IP than to use the URL they provided but either way works. After that it's easy to set up as an access point. I can't speak for it as a range extender, in my setup I use hardwired access points. Its suitable for that. My main wish list would be DD-WRT compatibility. I paid $29 for this an consider it a steal at that price. I suspect most people would be better off with the CPE210 if the prices were the same, as long as you don't need to remove the antennas. I'd say buy this if you have good IT skills, but if you don't just get a good mesh router system (but it will be much more money).
